OUR FOUNDER

The founder of the Bethany Asram is Dn. Alexious (H.G Alexious Mar Theodosious); With the blessings and inspiration from his spiritual mentor (guru) Vattaseril Mar Dionasious, he founded the Asram on a hill top at Mundanmala, Ranni – Perunad in 1918.

OUR VISION

The vision of Bethany Asram is the cultivation of a life dedicated to God, based an Christian monastic principles of poverty, obedience and chastity and aimed at extension of the Kingdom of Christ in India, Burma, Ceylon and the Far East, as God in his good providence may seem to call, by Holy Communion prayer, study missionary work and Philanthropic activities.

OUR COMMUNITY/ORDER

Dn. Alexious and his followers blended the Christian Monastic Traditions with the Indian Tradition of  Sanyasins ie, they receive the “ KAVI KUPPAYAM” as the habit.  They wore a small wooden cross along with their simple dress.  For the strict spiritual upbringing and experience, they constituted an order of rules which is called “ The Order of the limitations of Christ”- (O.I.C).  The name is self explanatory.  The Bethany community strives to imitate Christ in letter and spirit.

OUR MISSION

Bethany  Asram endeavours to pressure the atmosphere for those who visit and stay with us, the Asram is a spiritual reservoir to siphon the spiritual energy to the whole of Malankara with its austerity and unceasing prayer and meditation.
